Simultaneous Interpreting

Conferences or lectures where interpreters use cabins for simultaneous interpreting need two or more often three interpreters per language. Each interpreter works for 20 minutes at a time in his or her booth (one booth per language) and then hands over to one of the other two interpreters. This system is essential for correct simultaneous interpreting.

Consecutive Interpreting

Consecutive interpreting (in which the interpreter translates what one person says, and then in turn translates what his or her opposite number says in reply) needs only one interpreter - who can often interpret between three or more languages where necessary.

Although interpreters are often able to work in several different technical or business fields, nevertheless we recommend that you send some of your documents in advance to help them prepare for their work. They will then know about the products or services concerned and will be able to provide the world class service that you deserve.
